In a subtly political film, Tariq Tapa's debut feature explores the lives of two young individuals unable to escape from the city of Srinagar in Kashmir. Dilavar is an extremely intelligent and creative student, who engages in a variety of petty criminal activities in order to make money and escape from the clutches of his uncle. He encounters Bani, recently returned from the US, who is being goaded into an arranged marriage. She too longs to escape. Both are prisoners of their fate and agree to meet at the bridge. The film is an extremely well-structured and insightful study of the problems that beset the volatile region of Kashmir, a region that is claimed both by India and Pakistan.
