17-year-old Digos and his younger brother Pempe live in the island of Alcala in the Southern Philippines. They are orphans, forced to stay with their relatives. They work as "mangangabogs", which means that their job is to drive the fish into the nets by using dynamite. Their relatives force them to work to bring in some money, but the brothers are only too happy to work to get away from them. Pempe, however, finds new work at a Manila ice factory, but Digos soon misses having his brother by his side and Pempe is quickly fed up. Are they destined to work in the sea? An engaging film and the first part of trilogy about the hard living conditions for many in today's Philippines. The film was produced with support from the Göteborg International Film Festival Fund.
