Carlos Berger was brutally murdered by Pinochet's death squads in 1973. Here we get to follow his son Germán on a quest for his father's memory. At its most basic level, the film revolves around a family that has dispersed across the world and whose members has dealt with the trauma by moving on and trying to forget. But it's also about a whole nation's reluctance and inability to remember. It is a moving and beautiful experience to see how Germán forces his family to break the silence in order to reach some kind of closure for his own and their grief. "My Life With Carlos" is an impressive monument to Carlos Berger, but mainly to the power of the personal cinematic expression.
