Forget about half-dressed babes shaking their butts in the videos for male rappers. This is the story about girls who on their own merits with heavy rhymes fight their way through a misogynist music business. We take a journey from the cradle of hip hop in Bronx to the London Eastside, meeting both veteran family providers and the cocky MC:s of the new generation. Elevated stars like Erykah Badu, MC Lyte and Monie Love and relative unknowns like Chocolate Thai, Invincible and Miz Korona all testify about rotten odds but also about how it's possible after all for a woman to make it in the world of hip hop. An inspiring and groovy film that takes on questions of class, race and gender from an underdog perspective.
